Welcome to my FAQ page, where I aim to provide clarity and guidance on the exciting journey of hiring a personal stylist.
I understand that working with a fashion stylist can be unfamiliar territory for most people. To ensure a seamless experience, I have compiled a comprehensive list of frequently asked questions.
Hopefully, this gives you a clear picture of what to expect when you hire me as your wardrobe consultant. Should you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Are you accepting new personal styling clients?
I have limited availability for new clients. I encourage you to contact me for availability or to be added to my waitlist.
In the meantime, please check out my blog and subscribe to my newsletter for free style advice.

How far do you travel?

Do I need to be home for all of our appointments?
No. After our initial meeting, I can do my work without you present. I have several clients who are not typically home during outfit creation, closet organizing, and trip-packing services. In this case, you will be sent an invoice and photos by email.
Where can I see images of your clients?
Please visit my portfolio here.
Do you have a tailor, hairstylist, or cobbler you can recommend?
Yes! You may see all my recommended local professionals here.
I hate shopping. Can you help me?
Yes! This is probably the #1 reason my clients hire me. I do all the shopping for you. This makes getting dressed efficient and rewarding.
How do I prepare for a closet edit?
To ensure the most productive use of our time, I recommend having all of your laundry done. Please also have your dry cleaning picked up. This prevents me from recommending items you already have.
It also allows you to try on your full wardrobe so we can make a thorough assessment. Ideally, all of your garments and accessories are fairly organized and in the same room.
For example, if all of your shoes are downstairs, but your closet is upstairs, bring your shoes upstairs too. This helps me get a full picture of your wardrobe. Of course, none of this is required. It does make our time together more efficient though.
Where do you shop?
I shop everywhere! To give you a more specific idea, my clients and I shop at stores like:
- Anthropologie
- Bloomingdale’s
- GAP
- Lululemon
- Neiman Marcus
- Nordstrom
- Talbots
For in-store personal shopper services, I prefer to meet my clients at Fashion Valley Mall in San Diego.
For my clients who shop sustainably at consignment stores, we shop online retailers such as Fashionphile and The Real Real.
Do you shop consignment?
Yes! I work with many sustainable shoppers who prefer to shop consignment. We make use of online retailers like The Real Real and Poshmark or local boutiques.
What is the best way to contact you?
Email is my preferred contact method. While texting is convenient, it’s far too easy to accidentally delete or read texts.
Unfortunately, unlike an email, I can’t mark a text unread. To ensure I see your messages, please email me.
How much do you charge?
For personal styling services in San Diego, my rate is $175 per hour, with a two-hour minimum. Most appointments are 2-3 hours.
An initial thirty-minute consultation is included free of charge. Please contact me for my current availability. You can see a list of my current service offerings here.
Payment is due immediately after the completion of our appointment. I accept cash, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, and all major credit cards.
Are you allergic to cats or dogs?
No. I am happy to work in your home with furry friends present.
Do you make a commission on my purchases?
Usually, yes. I have partnerships with most retailers.
However, these commissions (or lack thereof), don’t affect my recommendations. I do not work for any particular brand or store.
As your stylist, I won’t encourage you to buy anything that doesn’t fit your lifestyle, aesthetic, or budget. Your needs are my top priority.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes! I accept all major credit cards, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, and cash. Payment is due at the end of each appointment.
How much should I budget for new clothing?
This depends on your needs and goals. I recommend a shopping budget of at least $2,000 for a seasonal update. If you need a wardrobe overhaul, you’ll need a budget of at least $5,000.
If you need proper suiting, clothing for specialized hobbies, or luxury fashion items, you will require a much larger clothing budget.
What is your cancellation policy?
A client may cancel any appointment without penalty as long as I have 24 hours’ notice. If the cancellation is last-minute, a fee will apply. This fee is one hour of billed time.
Are there any other costs I should be aware of?
Most, if not all, clients will require some tailoring. This can add up.
For example, most pants need to be hemmed. A lot of women need waistbands taken in and shoulder straps taken up. I assure you it’s worth it! It is something to keep in mind if you’re budget-conscious.
I have a difficult body type to dress. Can you work with me?
Yes! I have worked with women from size 2 to 22, so I am comfortable with women of many shapes and sizes. My clients have also ranged in age from 17 to 70.
Certain body types are indeed more difficult to dress. Please note that the styling process may be more time-consuming for certain clients. For example, there might be more rounds of returns and exchanges for the rarer body types. This includes women who are:
- Size 0 or smaller
- Size 20 or larger
- Taller than 5’9
- Shorter than 5′
Are you on Instagram?
No. I am fortunate to be able to make a living without the need for social media. That said, my blog and newsletter are great fashion resources.
Do you style men?
Yes, I can dress anyone! While the vast majority of my clients are women, I have styled the occasional man. Please note that men who need proper suits will need a much larger wardrobe budget.
How do you work with brands?
Please see this page for information about ambassadorships, sponsorships, and PR gifts.
